-Plate and Structural
(P&S)-As the name says, this is steel that is made up of plates and structures.  Plates being flat pieces and structures being beams.  the material has to be at least 1/4 inch think.  It can be any size, but to get the best prices, in some cases it can be 18" x 2', with most other sized being 18" x 3' or 18" x 5'.  Of course we can buy them up to any size as in we should took delivery of 46' beams.  We own 53' trailers, so we can save you money by buying these very large beams, to save you from cutting them u.  Just another service that we at Goldsboro Metal Recycling, in North Carolina offer.  Under 18" x 5', if is call Prepared.  Over that, unprepared.

Copper Recycling
Copper recycling is one of our biggest products.  The main types are:
Bare Bright Copper-New shinny wire
#1 Copper-Clean (no attachments-solder, insulation, etc.) and it can be pipe or wire.  For wire each strand has to be at least the thickness of the lead of a lead pencil!
#2 Copper-Can be pipe or wire, but have tin coating, solder, or burnt insulation
#1 Insulated Copper-Insulated wire that has a wide range of thickness of insulation

Today’s scrap metal prices are still much lower than last year, but at least things have stabilized and are looking slightly better.  The overall drag remains China and Europe.  China is not buying as much scrap metal, including not as much copper, steel and aluminum as they were last year.

Steel

Scrap Metal-steel was up this month which made everyone happy.  About a week ago, we were hearing all could be down next month, but we are now hearing it could be no-change, or as the industry says, ‘sideways’.  This means that scrap metal, here in Goldsboro, NC could have almost no change.  A key thought as we all know, this could change.  A positive thing is that the recent increase in steel, junk cars (Salvage Cars), could hold.  A positive thing is that steel production in the U.S. has been trending up in recent weeks, so the demand for scrap metal recycling products is a bit stronger.  Again, China and Europe need to buy to make the difference.

 

Copper

Scrap metal recycling of copper remains our highest value major family of products.  We are major buyers of scrap copper.  The good news is that copper prices are now stable and if all keeps going, we may increase our prices in the coming week.  Scrap metal prices for copper have come down a lot, in recent months, but we are hoping to see an increase soon.

Cardboard

We buy cardboard by the bale.  These are typically about 800-1,000 pounds.  Now that we are buyers of cardboard that helps our customers reduce the number of interactions that we have to deal with, with their ‘supply base’.  At Goldsboro Recycling, we have all the trucks, computer systems, people and processes for recycling, so adding cardboard made sense.  Trees, energy and landfill space are all saved by recycling cardboard, so it is a great thing to do.  Also, it helps our US trade surplus with China.  Much of the cardboard for recycling in the US, we sell to China.
